In addition to the conference sessions, the National Legal Masters Conference Planning Committee has gathered information about suggested group outings, including some with designated times that work with the conference timing.

Monday, March 2 – Bay Cruise

Classic panoramic view of San Francisco skyline with famous Oakland Bay Bridge illuminated in beautiful golden evening light at sunset in summer, San Francisco Bay Area, California, USA

Blue & Gold Fleet offers a 60-minute Bay Cruise departing from Pier 39 at 4:15 p.m. (boarding at 4:00 p.m.). Anyone interested can book directly through the company’s website.

Wednesday, March 4 – Cable Car & Coffee (Informal Meet-up)

A group plans to meet around 5:30 p.m. in the Kimpton Alton Fisherman’s Wharf lobby to ride the Powell–Hyde cable car line (including a stop near Lombard Street for photos), followed by Irish coffee at The Buena Vista. The group may decide to continue on to dinner afterward. You’re welcome to join at any point during the evening.

Please purchase your cable car fare in advance (a 1-day visitor pass is likely the easiest option). No reservations are being made — this is simply a casual group outing. If you have questions about the Wednesday evening plan, please email info@legalmastersconference.org.

As Your Travel Schedule Permits

Full view of the Alcatraz island at San Francisco Bay

Alcatraz Tours – Day, night, and behind-the-scenes tours are available through Alcatraz City Cruises (the National Park Service’s authorized concessioner). These tours often sell out, so booking directly in advance is recommended.

Shopping – Union Square, anchored by the historic 1929 Macy’s flagship, is easily accessible by cable car or rideshare from Fisherman’s Wharf. Please note that many retail locations close early on Mondays.

For those with additional time in the city, Stonestown Galleria (located approximately 8 miles from Kimpton Alton/UC Law SF) offers a variety of retail and dining options, including a Whole Foods Market and movie theater. The center is accessible by rideshare or public transit.

Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf – Pier 39 is just a short walk from the conference hotel and offers waterfront views, casual dining options, and small shops. Visitors can also see the sea lions that gather along the marina docks—one of the area’s most well-known attractions.
