Breakout Session 3 – Beyond Advising: Creating Student Support for the Modern Learner

March 4 | 11:15 am - 12:30 pm

Annie Stone, Director of Graduate Program Academic Services, Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, Arizona State University
Kelli Rodriguez, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs and Director, Sports Law Program, Seattle University School of Law
Nicholas Kajimoto, Director of Online and Graduate Programs, University of Southern California Gould School of Law

This session explores how graduate legal programs can move beyond traditional advising to support the modern learner. Centered on legal masters students pursuing a wide range of legal and law-adjacent careers, the presenters will use common hypotheticals encountered by student affairs professionals to prompt discussion and audience engagement, including international students, mental health concerns, academic integrity and misconduct, and professional development. Participants will explore practical strategies for helping students articulate their professional identity and feel holistically supported throughout their academic journey.
